thanks for that Tiger. I'm humbled. please, somebody tell that gentle man Jerry Moore. I said Hello. and please, permit me to acknowledge and thank ALL The Other Great Tapers out there. Any Taper that walks away from a live-music show with a great-sounding Tape - and comes back and Shares it - is a Great Taper... self-proclaimed or not. Some Tapers, like myself, are in fear that their Great Tapes might not get out. Passion in-the-raw. Taping-in-the-raw. Live Music-in-the-raw. They are inseperable.

an Amazing True Fact -- Jerry Moore AND Monte Barry BOTH TAPED gd73-07-31 show. It was a couple of days after Watkins Glen. Roosevelt Stadium was a regular stop for the Boys. NO SBD has ever surfaced for this show to my knowledge. I've asked here about 10 times. Jerry Garicia's b'day is Aug 1st. I'll never forget it. The MOST EXCITING "electric-sounding" GD set I ever witnessed. 2nd set, after midnight, Roosevelt Stadium simply Melted Down.

I taped this show FOB that night on my Nakamichi 550, E/V RE-15 mic. I was able to grab up a 10-foot pole from some scaffolding rubble outside the front gate of the stadium. Amazingly, I walked right in with it. I setup in the center fairly close to the stage, with my mic on top of the pole. Near the end of the last tune, a huge Hell's Angel security dude came up to me and asked me for my tape. He was 3 times my size. I gave it up, and almost cried. My friend, Jimmy Watson was there. He followed that security dude backstage. 5 or 10 minutes later, Jimmy was back with my tape. It was all grins, ear-to-ear. I've listened to this show for years, always hearing Johnny B Goode cutting off abruptly. Thanks to Jerry Moore's great taping, 34 years later I'm able to hear Bobby say goodnight, at the very end.

Re - my AUD.fob of GD on the Archive - RFK Stadium - June 10, 1973

just noticed Matt's volunteers haven't noticed their seed for my AUD to the GD section on the Archive never made the derivative files. it is Flacs only. somebody tell somebody please, and somebody will fix this. In the meantime, I have this show also on the Archive, in my own Collection.

hey Monte, i'm gonna check those out...and now i know where to start a search for any new additions

my measly efforts were in the the mid 80's when i would offer my tour bud a break and man-the-mics while he scooped a seat...i let him retain the masters for safe keeping, being his equipment and all...of course, at that time we were corralled back-of-board, a safer and more stable zone to be sure , but the sound was pretty tinny...believe me, i'm not the least bit insecure about all you cats out there flying the Great Taper banner, as long as you fly it high!

btw, seeing as how your into Garcia quotes, check this one out, if you haven't already...cheers!

personally, i don't care if any taper wants to align him/her self with the gods themselves, if they capture the sorts of shows that Monte, Moore, Falanga, Menke, Rolfe, Warburton, Glassberg, Vita, Wise, etc., etc., preserve for posterity, i'll respect their contributions, because if those tapers didn't capture the sounds, there are many, many exquisite shows we would not otherwise have the pleasure and enjoyment of listening to today

The June 9, 1973 GD at RFK Stadium show hasn't made it to the GD section on the Archive yet. I'm very confident Matt Vernon's crew will get their hands on this show soon. In the meantime, I've put it up on the Archive anyway - in my own Collection. This show's finale - Sugar Magnolia - SBD has been missing the final 2:30 for 35 years. Now we have every note.

RFK Stadium - June 10, 1973 - GD set - composite AUD.fob - every note

please - never mind the mindless chat about Taping. It's ALL ABOUT the great live music and The Boys. Making sure this timeless, wonderful Music gets cemented into History for Everyone to remember and enjoy. That's what my Taping was all about. Had I not been passionate about the Music and the Boys back then - I never would have Taped one note. Since I did have this passion, and I did Tape, I made sure to get the best FOBs and SBDs I possibly could - from the best Bands and Players I could access. I think this passion is Great - and I'm trying to say I'm proud of it. Not about Monte.
